Creative World Toddler Curriculum: Stepping Into Learning
Toddlers are busy exploring, learning and discovering the world around them. Our 3 E's: Foundations for Excellence™ curriculum provides the perfect complement of learning opportunities to engage their attention and challenge their natural inquisitiveness.

Integrated small group learning activities that focus on emerging math, science or language skills are a part of our weekly lesson planning.
Through fun, interactive games and experiences, toddlers will have the opportunity to enhance their cognitive development.
Literacy
Toddlers "learn" language naturally by hearing it used in context. They learn vocabulary by being spoken to, listened to and then encouraged to communicate their thoughts. They also discover the connection between spoken and written words by observing and experiencing them being used in the classroom.
Math
Toddlers experience math through manipulating materials in their environment. They discover the relationships of space and shapes, classifying and sorting, the attributes of different objects, and numerical properties by handling and manipulating many types of materials over and over in different ways.
Science
Toddlers explore science through their senses. They investigate, test, observe and draw conclusions based on what they discover as they handle and manipulate objects in their world. They need to explore and "test" over and over to formulate their conclusions.

Our teachers facilitate toddlers' learning by creating a variety of props and learning games to engage toddlers' curiosity and imagination. Toddlers are
just beginning to engage in pretend play and we plan engaging opportunities to inspire their play. The environment we provide is full of activities perfect
for toddlers. It allows them to discover and play independently or with others.
Props
Toddlers are delighted by all types of props and the simplest addition can make them excited and curious. Through the addition of props, our monthly themes come alive and encourage pretend play. Hats, puppets, magazines, empty food containers...the possibilities are unlimited. We rotate our enrichments to capture toddlers' interest and make each day new and exciting.
Learning Games
Our teachers love to make up playful toddler games! By dumping small toys into a basket or making a tower, they are demonstrating a new way of playing. We view these learning games as rich learning opportunities that encourage all types of learning. Our teachers also closely observe each toddler and individualize their teaching to challenge each child. These learning games provide opportunities for children to practice important social skills; emerging sharing, turn-taking, listening, following directions and empathy.

Toddlers learn through their senses. Every day, we plan a small group experience that allows children to explore through a variety of different types of
sensory play. These engagements allow children to experiment and discover.
Creative Art
Art for toddlers is all in the exploring of art materials, not in the products they create. Teachers encourage their little artists to use their senses to experience the process of art. We provide a variety of activities that include the following: painting, stamping, scribbling, smearing, gluing, sticking etc.
Sensory Activities
Each of our classrooms are equipped with a sensory table that allows for hands-on exploration of various textures, materials, etc. You will be amazed at the variety of activities we plan to engage children and their five senses.
Open-Ended Materials
What are open ended materials? Objects and materials that can be manipulated and used by a toddler in creative ways. Some examples include boxes, paper, tubes, plastic lids, fabric scraps, etc. Not only do toddlers love to explore these materials, but as they experiment and combine them in different ways, they are also learning.

Imagining Together
Everyday we make time to gather and share stories. Being together allows us to get to know our friends and play learning games. During this time, we also sing and dance as we learn new songs and listen to music.
Reading Aloud
We love a good book! Each day we set aside time to read together. Our read-alouds encourage us to learn new words as we read simple, repetitive stories with predictable text. Our toddlers begin to have favorite books that they request over and over. Our youngest readers interact by pointing to pictures, making gestures, sounds and knowing what comes next.
Meals & Snacks
Toddlers are introduced to nutritious foods for daily meals and snacks. We help toddlers develop independence and good eating habits. Intimate, classroom dining allows children to eat at their own pace in a familiar environment. Teachers and children sit and eat together, sharing good food and conversation.
Outdoor Fun & Exercise
At Creative World, our classroom learning extends to the outdoors as our teachers plan daily, interactive outdoor enrichments. You will find games, water play, sand play, books and chalk in our outdoor "classrooms". Each class is scheduled for outside time twice daily in an age appropriate play area. Our play equipment on each playground meets the highest standards and is designed to maximize fun and safety for all ages.

Small Groups: Educate
Each day, toddlers are invited to learn in small groups. During our Education Small Group, we focus on developmentally appropriate Math, Literacy and Science activities. Through fun, interactive games and engagements, our teachers provide toddlers with an educational foundation for their emerging skills.
Small Groups: Explore
We know that a large part of toddlers' learning happens through their senses. Every day, in our Exploration Small Group, teachers plan activities in the following areas: Creative Arts, Sensory and Open Ended Materials. These hands-on experiences facilitate toddlers' discovery learning.
Enriching Play: Learning Centers
Toddlers have the opportunity to explore the following learning centers as part of their daily Enriching Play: Blocks and Building, Language and Books, Fine Motor and Manipulatives, Music, Dramatic Play and Creative Arts. Our teachers also create a variety of props and learning games to enhance toddler's learning and engage their curiosity and imagination.
Quiet Time
After lunch, toddlers enjoy a calm atmosphere with soft, dim lighting and a cuddly blanket from home. Children rest on individual, assigned cots. While some doze off and nap for a time, others may enjoy a good book or a quiet activity. We work with families to coordinate this important routine for their child.

When we all work together, we help create a wonderful future for young children.
Our Teachers
We know how important teachers are in the lives of children...especially in their earliest years. Creative World Teachers have an important
combination of experience, personality and educational background.
CW University oversees our teacher training program which provides training in the following areas:
Curriculum, Health and Safety, Literacy, Childcare Standards, Positive Guidance and Developmental Assessment
In addition, Creative World teachers participate in required background screenings, undergo Tri-Yearly Corporate Inspections, are CPR Certified, and attend monthly staff training sessions.
Our Families
It is a well documented fact that children's learning is enhanced when families are involved. We partner with parents and families in a variety
of ways:
Our Monthly Calendar
Special Events
Our Parent Share Newsletter
(download a Parent Share here).
Additionally, you are invited to join us anytime to participate in your child's day! Come have lunch with us, read a book to the children, join us on a field trip. We encourage your participation!
Our Community
Creative World schools connect with each of our communities. We help young children learn about where they live by inviting local experts,
such as firefighters, librarians, dentists, veterinarians, etc. to come share about their role in the community.
We model how to give back as we participate in food drives, clothing drives and other philanthropic programs.

Creative World Toddler Classroom Features:
Our toddler classrooms are full of details that matter for your child's learning:
Small Group Size
We limit our toddler group size because we want to ensure that our teachers are able to individualize their instruction and provide the highest quality of care.
Low, Accessible Shelves With Age Appropriate Toys Within Reach
Creative World toddler classrooms are designed for children to explore and make choices about their play. We make sure children have access to a wide variety of fun and educational toys.
Beginning Interest Centers
Our room is divided into separate learning zones that allow toddlers to begin turn-taking and more complex forms of play. These centers encourage different types of learning as children explore and learn to play independently or in small groups.
Double Prevents Trouble!
As toddlers are learning to share and play together, we provide duplicates of favorite toys to encourage important negotiations and limit the frustration of young toddlers.
Child-Size is the Right Size
Our toddler classrooms are designed for toddlers! Sinks and toilets are child size and at their level to encourage independence with important developing skills as well as a safety precaution.
Creative World Portfolio Assessments
This is an important year in your child's development. Their language is exploding and they are developing new skills. Our teachers keep track of their progress and keep you informed of their latest accomplishments.
We believe great teachers must have a firm understanding of child development and know each child's strengths and interests. As we get to know your child, we play and interact as we observe them in different contexts to keep track of their learning throughout the year. We also use a developmental checklist to make sure each child is progressing in their social-emotional, cognitive and physical development. Weekly, we integrate our 3 E's: Foundation for Excellence™ curriculum with your child's developmental goals.
Every child has a learning portfolio that is a compilation of teacher notes, reflections, pictures and a collection of first drawings that tell their learning story. We believe that each child is full of unlimited potential and our job is to challenge, strengthen and help them grow.
Twice yearly, we hold an individual portfolio showing with families to share the progress and learning of your child. This is an opportunity to set goals and discuss strategies for enhancing their learning.
